A 16 year journey to diagnosis

Jaclyn, age 32, Illinois

I started getting episodes when I was 16 years old. I am now 32, and finally got the proper diagnosis. 6 months post-partum with my 1st child, I started getting very intense symptoms. Feeling faint, racing heart, stomach problems, numbness / tingling, vision issues, etc.

One night took me over the edge when I was home alone and almost called 911. I couldn’t catch my breath, and was on the floor trembling / gasping for air out of nowhere. After many many doctors appointments, heart monitor, testing etc, I finally got the tilt table test and got the answer I was looking for. This wasn’t just all in my head. It wasn’t JUST* a panic attack.

This was POTS and these physical things were and are happening to me. They call POTS the Invisible illness. The past few months have been extremely difficult, but I know there are better days to come!
