Know your limits and take life at your own pace

Mady, age 17, Kansas

I’ve always been a very active person so finding out that I had POTS changed my life. I’m going into my senior year of high school and I play volleyball. Volleyball has always been my comfort sport and activity. I found out I had POTS when I was 16 at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. My first ever symptoms were rapid heart rate and change in skin color. Although I have never passed out I have come very close and it is not fun. I now take supplements every day to help make living with a chronic illness easier. Waking up and facing the every day struggles of POTS never gets easier but it has taught me to be strong and to make more time for myself and my health.
